Private Apartment

Knightsbridge, London

2018 - 2020

Situated on the fifth floor of a modern building distinguished by its classic red brick and Portland stone, this expansive 3,000 sqft lateral apartment is positioned directly opposite Harrods. The property commands sweeping, elevated views over Trevor Square, looking towards the historic former Harrods Depository building.

The architectural footprint has been masterfully re-orchestrated into symmetrical volumes, anchored by a striking central circular hallway that elegantly delineates the private quarters from the family and entertaining spaces. Grand, unobtrusive doors finished in warm smoked oak panelling and accented with antique brass hardware allow the expansive rooms to flow seamlessly together when opened.

These rich, tactile elements are grounded by a striking combination of polished statuarietto marble and brushed French Oak chevron floors. In keeping with an ethos of quiet luxury, minimal architectural detailing allows the curated furnishings and art to sit in harmony with the iconic brickwork of the Harrods facade opposite.

To maximise the sense of space and volume, previously lowered ceilings were completely removed. This architectural correction invites natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows. The spatial flow was further improved by modifying bedroom door placements, combined with full height mirrored panels on cabinetry and side doors - as architectural interventions.

Nestled privately at the end of the rear hallway, the master suite is conceived as an exclusive, self-contained space. Designed with reference to the finest hotel suites, the sequence begins with a private lobby that unfolds into a comprehensive walk-around dressing area and a sprawling en-suite. The bedroom itself is calm, with light painted walls, delicate silk wall coverings and white emperador marble throughout the master bathroom.
